The ECM-500V system provides a rotating spindle to mark around the circumference of a product as well as a linear axis to allow the print head to be repositioned for multiple marks. Cylindrical products are set on the spindle and rotated while the inkjet printer is triggered. Spindle rotation is activated by a foot switch. The print head is initially positioned using fine pitch screw driven slides and can be set to mark anywhere in a cylindrical area 8 inches in diameter and 6 inches in height. Rotation speed for different radius parts is controlled by a knob on the front panel. A selector switch allows one or two rotations to insure printing does not occur during spindle acceleration or deceleration. If a second or third mark is selected, the z- axis is moved down by a preset distance after the first mark is complete. A digital output signals the printer to select the new message, and the part is rotated again. After the final print, the z-axis then returns to its initial position.
